PENGARUH PEMBELAJARAN GROUP INVESTIGATION (GI) DENGAN STRATEGI METAKOGNITIF TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA SISWA SMP

EXSI TINARTI - Personal Name;

Wafidin, G. 2017 : The Influence of Group Investigation (GI) Learning with Metacognitive Strategies on Mathematical Problem Solving ability at Junior High School Students
Counselor : 1. Dr. Hj. Heny Sulistyaningrum, M. Pd.
2. Tanti Nawangsari, S.Si., M. Pd.
Keywords : Group Investigation Learning (GI), Metacognitive Strategy and Student Mathematics Problem Solving Ability

The problem in this research is the students are less enthusiasm to follow the learning, because the teacher still use conventional learning (expository) in the teaching learning, where the students only tend to be the recipient so it cause low students? ability in Mathematic problem solving. Model study of group investigation with metacognitive strategy chosen in this research because it can emphasizes on students? participation and activity to find study information which will be studied by themselves and also train students? independence so can make the students as a subject not as an object who only receive information from their teacher.
The purpose of this research is to test whether there is influence of Group Investigation study with metacognitive strategy on the students? ability of mathematics problem solving at junior high school students.
This research was conducted at SMP N 5 Tuban by using experiment method. The sample of this research is the students of class VII D as experimental class and class VII C as control class in academic year 2016/2017. Instrument in this research is pretest and posttest value data. Data analysis technique used is non-parametric test Mann-Whitney test, which had been tested normality and homogeneity test of variance at the first.
The results showed that there was a significant difference in students' Mathematic problem solving skills between those taught using Group Investigation learning model with metacognitive strategy with uneducated students using group investigation model with metacognitive strategy. This can be seen from non-parametric test results Mann-Whitney test on posttest value data where Z_count = -2,877 less than ?-Z? _table = -1.96.
The differences arise because of the treatment given to the experimental class that is taught using group investigation learning with metacognitive strategies, while other variables such as teachers, materials, problems, and others are relatively the same. In other words, it can be concluded that there is influence of group investigation (GI) study model with metacognitive strategy to solve students? Mathematics problem solving of SMP N 5 Tuban in academic year 2016/2017 in the discussion of rectangular subject.
