Writing is very important part of the language learning process. However, many students find writing as one of the most difficult skills in English. Therefore, the researcher wants to improve the students? writing ability, especially in report text through the suitable teaching media. There are a lot of techniques and method to use in order to make the teaching learning process enjoyable. In this research, the researcher uses National geographic animal kids video through animal house.
In this final project, the objectives of the study was to describe the students? ability in writing report text by using selected video National Geographic Animal Kids, and to know the effectiveness of teaching writing report text by using selected video National Geographic Animal Kids.
The design of this research is Experimental research. The research subject is IX-C consisting 35 students. Test and observation are used to obtain the data. The students? were given pre-test before treatment and post-test after giving treatment to know the effectiveness and ability in writing report text using National Geographic Animal Kids.
National Geographic Animal Kids as media of teaching writing increase the students? writing report text after giving treatment. The data shows in amount value post-test 252,1 higher than pre-test in number 161,0. Based on the result t-test the t number = 22,30 > The value critical table 3,646 / 3,551 at level of significance 0,1% for dg = 34. It can be concluded that National Geographic Animal Kids as media of teaching writing was effective. These media could be used to stimulate students? motivation and enthusiasm. Besides, these media also developed students? comprehend based on the video and built students? knowledge. Finally, National Geographic Animal Kids could help the achievement of learning success.
