ABSTRACT

Teacher is the key of success to the English teaching and learning process in the Class. This Research focuses on the Teacher?s pedagogic competence applied by one English Teacher of SMP NEGERI 2 RENGEL, specifically on the application of the aspects in teaching and learning process One of the importance competence needed by English Teacher is pedagogic competence.
This research used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher used observation, and interview, with the participant is one English teacher who taught the seventh grade in SMP Negeri 2 RENGEL. In analyzing the data, the researcher used taxonomy analysis which a whole data collected based on the domain that has been set.
The findings of the study show that from the eight types of pedagogic competence of the Teacher applied six aspects. They are understanding the insight or the foundation of education, the development of the curriculum or syllabus, the implementation of learning that educates and dialogue, the use of learning technology, the evaluation of learning outcomes, the development of learners to actualize various potentials. Two of the pedagogic competence he missed were understanding of learners, and learning design.
In conclusion the English teacher had applied most of competence. It is suggested the teacher used this competence to motivate and encourage the students so that the students will be more motivated to learn English. In addition, the Teacher is suggested to create more interesting Activities in the Class
