Movies or video is a form of entertainment that enacts a story by sound and a sequence of images giving the illusion of continous movement. In this research, the researcher use crocodile and mouse deer video with English subtitles on the students achievement in reading. The writer used crocodile and mouse deer video with English subtitles to make students have a motivation to learn English especially in reading process.
The design used in this research is a true experimental research with pre test-post test type control group design. There are two groups to be researched with 22 students of the experimental class and 22 students of the control class. The data are taken from the pre test before giving the treatment and the post test after giving the treatment to know the effectiveness of using crocodile and mouse deer video with English subtitles and also questionnaires to know the students? responses through the learning process of the technique.
Based on the research result, the researcher concludes that using crocodile and mouse deer video with English subtitles is effective because the value of t-count (2.865) is higher than the value of t-table (2.018) and they shows the good response through teaching and learning process as it is shown in the observation during the teaching learning process and also in their questionnaires.
From the research, it was also found some weakness in using crocodile and mouse deer video. The limited time was the main obstacle in this research. Sometimes, it comes from another factor which was unexpected happen in the lesson plan.
