This study is aimed to know the learning strategies that used by the students and the dominant strategies used.
Here, the writer chooses the second semester of English Department at University of PGRI Ronggolawe Tuban as the sample. The research was done in the class followed by 29 students that consists of 6 males and 23 females. This study used qualitative research method. The data were collected by the students? answers of questionnaire and observation checklist in the class. The result of the data was in a simple description form and percentage.
The result of the study shows that in general the students? strategies in speaking class at second semester is cognitive strategy. They also use all types of learning strategies. And the students? speaking is good enough. Teacher should give more information about learning strategies.
