Literature is one of the great creative and universal means of communicating the emotional, or intellectual concern of human kind like art and music, imagination and meaningfulness expression good forms and techniques characterization fine literature. Literature may instruct and inform, entertain, express personal joy or pain, reflect religious devotion, glorify a nation or hero, or advocated a particular point of view whether it is political, social and aesthetic.
The purposes of the study are to get the answer of the statements of the problem as follows (1) how is the characterization of psychopath character represented by the main character Franck Khalfoun? (2) What are the psychological conflict occurred to Franck Khalfoun? And (3) how is the main character resolution toward his psychological conflict.
In this study, the writer uses the qualitative research design to get the valid data. the data and source of the data are from the manuscript of the dialogues and the setting of the film Maniac, and to collect the data the researcher watched and tried to understand the film and then transcribed the dialogue of the film, chose the data dealing with problems that will be analysed, selected the data relevant concerning with the purposes of the study in the film maniac, categorized the data related to characterization, psychological conflict, and the data the resolution based of the statements of the problem then were described, interpreted and made conclusion of the findings.
Based on the analysis the researcher found there are four characterization of the psychopath character Frank Khalfoun (1) eloquent, shallow and liar. (2) Anti-social. (3) Aggressive, challenging guts and fight, often sleep late. (4) Impulsive and difficult to control. The psychological conflicts of the main character Franck Khalfoun are (1) hallucinating, (2) stress, (3) revenge and (4) anxiousness. The resolution of the main character toward his psychological conflict (1) hallucinating resolution. (2) Stress resolution. (3) Anxiousness resolution and (4) Revenge resolution.
