The objectives of this study are to describe the teacher?s teaching style variation in the English classroom and to explain the students? responses toward the teacher?s teaching style variation in teaching English in classroom activities in SMA N 1 Sumber. The result of this study is intended to compare the teacher?s teaching style used by novice teacher and professional teacher.
The writer used descriptive qualitative method in this study. The subjects of the study were one novice teacher and one professional teacher. The data were collected through observation is to know the teacher?s teaching style variation in teaching English classroom. Questionnaire was used to know the students? responses toward teacher?s teaching style variation in English classroom. I was also interview to get information from their teaching style variation. The data were analyzed qualitatively.
The result of the study showed that there are similarities and differences in teaching by professional teacher and novice teacher. The similarities are: arranging lesson plan, making an interesting material and media, using various activities such as: presentation, group discussion, role play, answer and question. The differences are using various voice, gesture, and movement. The students? responses toward teaching style are 92.1 % students like the professional teaching style and 80.3 % students like the novice teaching style.
