Novel is the tool of knowledge where the people may get a new knowledge based on the novel that they read. There are many people read the novel but they don?t understand the content of the novel. Because there are many complicated aspects in the novel that the reader did not know about it especially in social and humanity aspect. In this novel , the writer tries to analyze feminism aspect in White Olender novel.
The purpose of this study , the researcher want to analyze in what way the main character, Astrid Magnussen can be considered as a feminism and also to show how White Olender criticizes towards woman through the novel.
The writer analyzed by the following steps : getting an absolute understading of content, identify the quotations, coding the quotations that show how the feminism in main character and critics toward woman. The most suitable method for the study of literature is the phenomenon of qualitative research. This need to be understood as the world?s literature is full word an symbol of meaning . Literature is not a phenomenon that is easy to follow the symptoms of the natural sciences and easily to be calculated.
The result of the study showed that the main character Astrid Magnussen can be considered as feminist. The writer found four findings , Astrid Magnussen is very brave Astrid Magnussen is a strong women and Astrid very adaptable
Finally , the writer hopes that this analysis can stimulate the students who are interested in conducting a literary research, especially about prose. The writer also hopes that other students make analysis in the novel or other literaly works to get better knowledge about it.
