Video tutorial is one of media in teaching writing procedure text. It has many advantage to develop students? ability of writing skill. Teaching writing procedure text by using video tutorial was more effective and enjoyed than using another media.
The objective of the research is to find the effectiveness of using video tutorial to improve the students? writing skill procedure text in eighth grade of SMP 1 Ahmad Yani Baureno in academic years 2015/2016.
This research design used is in the research is experimental research. The subject is taken from the eighth grade of SMP 1 Ahmad Yani Baoureno in academic years 2015/2016 consisting of 27 students. The data collecting method used are test and questionnaire.
The result of the research is the mean score of pre-test was 70.18. After using video tutorial, the mean score increased to 75.74. It means that video tutorial is effective in teaching writing skill. Then the value of t-test is 5.78 while the value of t-table significant degree of 1% with t(1-??) or t(0.05) is 2.05. It means that t-test is higher than t-table or tobserve > ttable. It indicated the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. In conclusion, based on the difference of mean score between pre-test and post-test, video tutorial is effective to be apply in teaching writing procedure text.
This research is not perfect yet, it is suggested to conduct further research on similar area by improving the methodology or to use it as a reference to conduct a further research related to use video tutorial in difference area of teaching. This research is very important because it will give some knowledge to the researcher and to know the benefit of using video tutorial in teaching English.
