The purposes of this study are to know the significant difference of achievement in reading comprehension of narrative text between the students who are taught by using story pyramid technique and those who are taught without using story pyramid technique and to describe the students? responses after getting the technique of story pyramid in reading comprehension of narrative text at at the eighth grade of MTs Islamiyah Syafi?iyah Gandrirojo-Sedan-Rembang in the academic year of 2015 / 2016.
The method used in this study was quantitative method and the design of study was experimental design. The writer takes two classes as the subject of the study. They are VIII C as experimental class and VIII D as control class. Test is used to know the significant difference of achievement in reading comprehension of narrative text among students who are taught by using story pyramid technique and those who are taught without using story pyramid technique. Questionnaire is used to know the students? responses toward reading comprehension narrative text by story pyramid technique.

The result of the study showed that there was significant difference between students? score by using story pyramid and without by using story pyramid technique. According to the result of statistical calculation, it shows that the mean of post-test in control class is 71,97 and the mean of post-test in experimental class is 78,02. The t-table shows 1,992 and t-value is 4, 01. In this research, the writer used the degree of significance 5%= 1,992. Based on calculation, t-value > t- table = 4, 01 > 1,992 so the t-value is bigger than t-table. It means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted so there is significant differences between the result of test of the students who were taught using story pyramid technique and without using story pyramid technique. From the result of questionnaire, the writer got good result that story pyramid technique has positive response in reading comprehension of narrative text. It can be concluded that the use of story pyramid technique has good effect for the students, especially in reading comprehension of narrative text. Story pyramid technique is suggested to use in teaching reading skill.
