One of the characteristics of the study relating to absorb, process, and transmit the information is learning styles of learners. Learning styles is a very important learning modality. Information related to the characteristics of student's learning styles that will be taught, is important for the teachers improve the quality of learning. Students will also be easier to motivate him selve in learning. Tactile or kinesthetic is one of learning style. Tactile method is the method which learning takes place by the students carrying out physical activities, rather than listening to a teacher or watching demonstrations.
The purposes of this study are to describe teaching and learning process during tactile method was applied and to increase students? vocabulary by using this method. Other that, to know the students? problems and students? increase in mastering vocabulary by using tactile method and to describe the students? responses toward teaching English vocabulary by using tactile method at 4th class of SDN Ngrejeng 1 Grabagan.
This research is a classroom action research that conducted in 3 cycles and every cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. In this study, the subjects were all students at 4th class of SDN Ngrejeng 1 Grabagan in academic year 2015/2016. There were 19 students. The procedure of collecting data the researcher uses observation check list, questionnaire and test. The writer also observed the students? activities in learning English.
Observation, questionnaire and tests are used to collect the data. The instrument of observation is conducted at the moments of teaching learning process in order to know the teaching and learning process. Second is test. In this study researcher used two tests, first is oral test and second is worksheet test. It was conducted to know what the students? problems and improvement of students? mastering vocabulary using tactile method. And third is questionnaire. Questionnaire was conducted in the last meeting of cycle III. This purpose is to know students? response in tactile method.
From this study, it can be concluded that the process of teaching and learning vocabulary by tactile method was ran well. It was supported by significant result from pra cycle only 15.7% who god standard point (KKM) and first test of cycle I was 42.1% who got KKM. Then in cycle II was up to 57% and the last test was 79%. And for the students? response is positive toward the use of tactile method.
So, the conclusion of this study shows that the students? increase in mastering vocabulary by using tactile method at 4th class of SDN Ngrejeng I Grabagan is succesful.
