This study is about the Improving Students? Speaking Ability of Descriptive Text by Using Photograph of Media at the Seventh Grade of Mts Al Musthofawiyah Palang in academic year 2015/2016. The present classroom action study was basically triggered by the fact that the subjects under study still faced problem in speaking skill. The subjects? problem should be instantaneously solved.
The purposes of the study are : (1) To describe the implementation of photograph as media in speaking ability at the seventh grade students of Mts Al Musthofawiyah Palang. (2) To find out to what extent the students? speaking skill in descriptive text improves after they are taught by using photograph as media. (3)To describe the students? responses to the Photograph as Media in Speaking Ability at the Seventh Grade Students of Mts Al Musthofawiyah Palang.
The subject of the study in this research is the seventh grade students of Mts Al Musthofawiyah Palang in academic year 2015/2016 consisting 32 students. The research design was usedqualitative and quantitative approach. The reseacher used observation list, speaking test to gather the data, observation and questionnaire to know the students? responses. The test had been tried to find out the difference score of the pre-test, post-test I and post test II. The scores from pre-test was used to see the speaking ability before usesphotograph as media and the scores from post-test I and post test II were used to know the students? speaking ability after using photograph as media.
The result of the research increasing score from pre-test (62), post-test I (67) and post test II (81).There was a significant difference of the mean between cycle I (post test I) and cycle II (post test II). The difference of the meanof cycle I and cycle II was 14.
The findings clearly showed that the speaking skill of the subjects under study could be improved through photograph as media. The result of the data analysis from the questionnaire showed most of the students? gave positive responses toward the implementation of photograph as media in teaching speaking descriptive text. These findings clearly indicated the subjects? positive changing attitude and motivation in improving speaking skill through photograph as media at the seventh grade of Mts Al Musthofawiyah Palang.
