This study is intended to investigate 1) What vocabulary learning strategies do the female students use at seventh grade of MTS AL- Musthofawiyah Palang- Tuban in learning English? 2) What vocabulary learning strategies do the male students use at seventh grade of MTS AL- Musthofawiyah Palang- Tuban in learning English?, 3) To whats extend are the different of Learning Strategy between female and male students?

This used quantitative method, the part of quantitative is counting this score from this study uses qualitative analysis. It takes 29 students of seventh grade C class at English Department of UNIROW Tuban as subjects of the study and they were categorized into three kinds of learning strategy: metacognitive, social, cognitive, compensation, affective. In this case, two instruments are used. It covers questionnaire for all the subjects for 2 students from each level of proficiency and interview. Questionnaire are analyzed using scale from 1 to5, and the interviews were descriptively
The result indicated that From the research that have been done by the researcher about vocabulary learning strategy used by seventh grade students of MTS AL-MUSTHOFAWIYAH Palang-Tuban, the researcher concluded that:
The female students mostly used compensation strategy in learning vocabulary that (45.45%) mostly female students used compensation strategy in learning vocabulary. And the other (18.18%) used memory and metacognitive strategy for example: she accociated a new words with the one she already knew, and than she connected the new vocabulary that she had known before.
The male students mostly used metacognitive strategy in learning vocabulary that (54.54%) mostly male students used compensation strategy in learning vocabulary. And the other (45.45%) used social strategy, and the last (18.18%) use memory and metacognitive. (45.45%) mostly female students used compensation strategy in learning vocabulary. And the other (18.18%) used cognitive and social and the last (9.09%) used memory and metacognitive strategy, 2) (54.54%) mostly male students used compensation strategy in learning vocabulary. And the other (45.45%) used social strategy and the last (18.18%) used memory and metacognitive strategy, 3) There is no significance difference between female and male students, they mostly used the same strategy.
