This thesis is written in order to (1) know whether the use Audio Visual aids can improve the students? reading skill; and (2) what are the students? improvement in their reading skill by using Audio Visual aids. This study was conducted on the prelimiary study in Mts Nurul Iman Montong-Tuban in which the researcher found that almost all of the students of the seventh grade got difficulty in understanding reading text. Most of the students got difficulties in determining the main idea, identifying the implicit and explicitinformation, determining the meaning of words, determining the purpose, and determining the reference of pronouns.
The data were collected by using qualitative and quantative technique of analysis. The qualitative method consist of assembling the data, coding data comparing the databuilding interpretation, and reporting the outcome. The quantitative data were analyzed by comparing the mean scores of the post-test1 and post-test2.
Their mean score of reading in the pre-test was 68.98 and still far from the passing grade 75.00. the research was conducted from May 06th ? 19th 2016 at MTS Nurul Iman Montong-Tuban the research was conducted in two cycles, in which the first cycle consisted of three meeting. Every cycle consisted of four step: planning, implementing, observation, and reflection.
The reaserch finding shows that the use of video as Audio-Visual media combined with SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review) can enhance the students? reading skill and the class situation in teaching and learning activity. The improvement of students? comprehension includes: (1) students? to determine to main idea; (2) students are able to identifity the implicit and explicit information; (3) students are able to determine the meaning of word; (4) students are able to determine the purpose of the text; and (5) students are able to determine the reference of pronoun.
