One of students?problem in learning English is they always have difficulty in writing. Regarding with this problem, the writer tried to conduct the research as the objectives of the research are: 1)To describe the effectiveness of animation movie in teaching writing narrative text.2)To describe the students responses toward the use of animation movie in teaching writing narrative text at class VIII D of SMP Negeri 1 Sarang, Rembang Central Java in the academic year of 2015/2016.
To achieve the objectives of the study, the writer conducted pre- experiment quantitative research. The experiment was held through the test equivalent group design. The population of the study was the eighth year students of SMPN 1 Sarang. The total number of sample in this study was 32 students. The data collection were test and questionnaire. In solving the problems, the writer carried out experimental study using statistical method called t-test. The writer used a group: experiment group. In experiment class, the teacher used animation movie in teaching writing narrative text.
The research findings showed that the use of animation movie in learning process, brought class was proven to be effective to improve the students? writing ability. It could get students? attention and increased their learning motivation. It can help the students understand the story better as the video content visual or moving images that can help imagining the real situation in the story. That there was significant difference between pre test score and post test score. After the teacher gave the treatment to experiment class, it means that there was significant improvement from pre test to post test mean of experiment class (56.7 to 69.7). The students? imagination built by watching movie, they are easier to express their idea in writing. From the T ? test result, the result t obtained is 14,85. It was higher then t critical 2,04 at level of significance 5% with df 31. The analysis of the result in this research at the eighth year students of SMP Negeri 1 Sarang, it can be inferred that writing narrative text by using animation movie is better than that of without animation movie. Using animation movie in teaching writing narrative text is recomended as an alternative way for English teachers, especially for junior high school?s teachers. The teacher needs to attract the students? interest and explore the students? ideas.
