The purposes of this study are to describe the teaching and learning process to improve the students? writing skill on narrative text by using animation movie, to know the students? problems and improvement in writing narrative text that are taught by using animation movie and to describe the students? responses toward teaching writing narrative text by watching movie at the first grade students of MA AL FALAH BANGILAN.
The research was Classroom Action Research. The method of the research was descriptive quantitative. Data were obtained by giving test to the students of IA before and after the teacher using animation movie. The instruments that were used to collect the data were test as a main instrument and observation checklist as second instrument. The test was used to know students? ability in writing narrative text before and after the teacher implementing animation movie namely The three little pigs , Golden goose,The wolf and the seven little goats. Observation checklist was used to know the students? activities during teaching and learning process.
Based on the result of research: (1) The implementation of animated film in teaching learning narrative text was started when the researcher explained to the students about the purpose, the generic structure and the language features of narrative text. The researcher then introduced animation movie to the students and presented the way, how to write narrative text based on the animation movie. The researcher gave several questions which are related to the movie. The next step is playing the animation movie and the students tried to answer the questions on the paper. (2) The ability of students IA at MA Al FALAH Bangilan. here is ability to write narrative text. The mean of pre cycle test was 41.6. The result of the test from cycle 1 the mean was 44.3, 59.5 for cycle 2, and 62.7 for the cycle 3. (3) Animation movie can improve students? ability in writing narrative text. The students can catch the idea because they watch and know the plot. Using animation movie can be a new atmosphere for the students who have not been taught using movie before. After the students motivate themselves to learn about material, it will raise their spirit to write something using their answer from the questions of movie as guidance in learning writing process so that their writing ability improved
