In teaching and learning process, the teacher wants to have active and enthusiastic students. Students are happy to do all the activities without being bored. All the duties from the teacher run as challenging, enjoyable, and educating. This atmosphere of teaching and learning is wanted not only by the teacher but also by the students. In fact, most of students are bored in the classroom. It happens because the teacher cannot find the appropriate method to throw away students? boredom.
In this research, the writer wants to know the effectiveness of semantic mapping to improve vocabulary mastery and to know the students? attitudes towards semantic mapping in teaching vocabulary for the seventh grade students of MTs Islamiyah Senori. The design used in this research is classroom action research (CAR). The data is taken from observation, questionaires and test item. And the subject of this study were class VII A of MTs Islamiyah Senori.
From the finding of cycle 1 until cycle 3, the semantic mapping was effective to improve vocabulary mastery for the seventh grade students of MTs Islamiyah Senori and the seventh grade students of MTs Islamiyah Senori have positive attitudes towards the semantic mapping method.
