In this study, the writer wants to describe the kinds of women oppressions in the novel and want to find the struggles of women to againts the oppressions. This novel is presented by Jane Austen. This novel also has two main characters; they are Darcy (Pride) and Elizabeth Bennet (Prejudice). The writer chooses the oppressions of women in the main character in this novel because the story of this novel is so interesting to read and also we can learn many things for our life from this novel especially the struggles to against of oppressions of the characterization of main character.
The writer uses qualitative analysis method. In this research the writer uses the procedure of data analysis. They are (1) reading and understanding the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen which used as the main data and subject of the study, (2) choosing the oppressions of woman and class struggle of this novel as object her study, (3) collecting the supporting data needed to find the related theories to get valid data, (4) selecting the data concerning with the purpose of the study.
From this novel, the researcher finds there is much oppression of women. The oppressions of women in this novel are: violence, exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness and cultural imperialism. This research is not only discussing about the oppressions of women but also the women?s struggle to fight against the oppression in their life. On this discussion the researcher gives analyzes about exploitation of marriage as the fights to againts the oppressions.
This thesis talks about Oppressions of women, it is one of research that can be one of reference for the next researcher, besides it can be the inspiration for other readers especially about the struggles of women in facing the oppressions in their life. And for next researcher who will take similar study, the researcher hopes that this study will give enough information or contributions for better quality of literary work research
