The design of Qualitative Research. the aims of the research is to implement puppet show in teaching listening and to find out the students? responses toward it. It is expected that the result of the study could enrich the teacher?s strategy in teaching English especially in listening skill through puppets for elementary school students. The subject of the study was the students of MI Mathlaul Ulum Ngadirejo Widang in the Academic Year of 2014/2015).There were 28 students (12 are boys and 16 are girls). In this research, the researcher used Puppet Show in teaching Listening to the short story.
There were three steps in this research. The first step of the activity was the pre-teaching. The second step was the activity of whilst teaching and the third step was the activity of post teaching. . In the first step, there were three activities such as greeting, communication with students used English and Checking the students attendence. In the second step, there were four activities such as teacher gave brainstorming, after that explained using puppet, explained each names of the puppet and played a golden cucumber story used puppet show in front of class.The third step of the activities were called some students to practicing in front of class, giving a test and answering the interview.
Based on the research findings , it can be concluded that teaching and learning process of listening by using puppet show gave the positive responses to the fourth grade of MI Mathla?ul Ulum Ngadirejo Widang in her research. It showed that most of the students felt easy to understand and they tough that teaching listening by using puppet show media could increased or developed their listening skill. The researcher found that listening by using interactive media had a big role to increase students competence in listening skill. from the research finding above, the students enjoyed listening by using interactive media such as puppet show. They were very active and interactive to answer the questions when they had on going practicing in front of class. It proved that using puppet show, the students were motivated to learn more about English lesson. It was also proved by using the result of interview. All of the student liked English lesson especially using puppet show. It means that teaching listening by using puppet show was successful.
