Stated in the introduction that the purposes of this study are to investigate the strategies in teaching English vocabulary and to find out the students perception of the teacher strategies in teaching English vocabulary at the fifth grade at MI Muhammadiyah 1 Karangagung In Academic Year 2014/2015. The writer therefore needs method of research. So, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method to get her aim. In qualitative method
In this research ,the researcher takes the seven students of Mi Muhammadiyah as the subject of the research , because in this level students don?t have much knowledge about vocabulary . At the fifth grade of Mi Muhammadiyah . The researcher chooses one of the class because they have more ability than the other classes ,so the researcher thinks that the class will be easier to be controlled

Based on the data collection and data analysis, the study wanted by report finding resulted from observation related to the strategies in teaching English vocabulary and than using the strategies in learning English vocabulary in elementary school. The observation has been conducted for four times.

The fifth class has thirty students. From the observation it was obtained that Mrs. Anita, the teacher who teaches at fifth class used synonym and opposite in teaching vocabulary. First, Mrs. Anita told the theme on that day. She explained about kind of the adjective. Next, she asked the students to mention kind of adjective. She also asked to student to write adjective word because the teacher will explain the word. This purpose is to get the students attention to the material. Next the teacher told the students that they will play guessing game about adjective. Next, she began to give a clue to his student.
