In teaching English, the students often have problems such as nervous, afraid, shy, and limited vocabulary. Besides that, the reason such as reluctant, lack of motivation, and uninteresting teaching technique can make the students feel difficult to speak English clearly. From it, the writer chooses role play method and video as a media to know the student?s speaking skill.
This study is about Combining Role Play Method and Video in Teaching Speaking Skill of Asking and Giving Service at the Seventh Grade of MTs. MASLAKUL HUDA Sluke. The purposes of the study were to know (1) the implementation of combining role play method and video in teaching speaking skill at the seventh grade of MTs. MASLAKUL HUDA Sluke, and (2) The student?s responses toward combining role play method and video in teaching speaking skill at the seventh grade of MTs. MASLAKUL HUDA Sluke.
The writer used qualitative research design; the subjects of this research were 36 students at VII B of MTs. MASLAKUL HUDA Sluke. The data were collected by observing learning activity and interviewing the students.
The result of this study showed that combining role play method and video can increase students? speaking skill and this technique is needed to be applied because it gave a lot of benefits not only for the students in learning English easily and attractively but also for the teacher in making an effective, enjoyable and interesting teaching learning process. Make students to practice speak English in an appropriate way with a good pronunciation, and also make students easier to do speak English more clearly without nervous and shy.
From the statement above, it can be concluded that combining role play method and video in teaching speaking skill got strong positive responses. Most of students? wanted to apply this technique for the next learning. From this stated, it can be concluded that students have motivation to learn speaking by using role play. It means that teaching speaking by using role play method and video were successful.
