People use language as a mean of communication in the forms of sound in structure. Language is primarily spoken, althought it can be transferred to another medium, such as writing. Writing can be viewed not only in poetry or drama but also it can be seen in the lyric of song. The writer choose analyzed song because song itself give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.
Related of the research the writer tries to answer the problems of the research. As follow: (1). What are the kinds of deixis found in the lyrics of One direction?s songs in fourth album ?four? ?, (2). What is the dominant deixis found in the lyrics of One direction?s songs in fourth album ?four??
In analyzing the lyrics the writer used qualitative method to collect the data (collecting some document such as: book and previous study). The source of data in this study is the text of lyric song in One direction?s songs entittled: fireproof, girl almighty, 18, ready to run, fools gold, and act my age. The writer analyzed the deixis which appeared and used in the text song. The types of kinds and dominant are discussed too. The function of deixis to make understanding about deixis itself.
In this analysis, the writer analyze deixis in the lyrics of One direction?s. The writer find the kind of deixis and the dominant deixis. The result of the research shows that in data 1 ?fireproof? song there are three kinds deixis. They are person deixis, place deixis, time deixis. In data 2 ?girl almighty? song there are three kinds deixis. They are person deixis, place deixis, time deixis. In data 3 ?ready to run? song there are four kinds deixis. They are person deixis, place deixis, time deixis, and discourse deixis. In data 4 ?18? song there are three kinds deixis. They are Person deixis, place deixis, and time deixis. In data 5 ? fools gold ? song there are thee kinds deixis. They are person deixis, place deixis, time deixis. In data 6 ?act my age? there are three kinds deixis. They are person deixis, place deixis, time deixis. From all of the data, the dominant deixis is person deixis.
