The Purpose in this study, researchers analyzed the purpose of this drama with the aim to find a few things first adalan, (1) To find out the characterization of the main characters in Drama Text A Marriage Proposal. (2) .to find out the social conflict happens in Drama Text A Marriage Proposal. (3) .to find out the major social conflict in Drama Text A Marriage Proposal. And this case the definition and elaboration of a descriptive method used in this study, because this is qualitative desckriptive.
Beside that, everyone can?t be separated from interacting with the others, because they can?t live in their own communities. From this fact, they will learn about human behavior, attitudes, thoughts and cultures of other people so much. Moreover, it is not easy to make a good relationship with others because of some problems or conflicts will arise between them.
Based on the research written here, the authors find the kind of conflict that happened and very prominent in Drama Text "Proposal". Has the social conflict which means one person against the other. Here Lomov, Natalya and Tchubukhov debated on pasture Volovyi and also about the dog better.
According to the above two types of conflicts, the authors found the most dominant on this Drama that is social conflicts that dominate this drama. This happens, because it always appears, and most often in the story from beginning to end of the story.
