NISWATUN KHASANAH - Personal Name;

This study was aimed at improving the speaking ability of the second year students at SMP NU Bancar by using articulation game. This study is classroom action research. The research are preliminary study, pre-test, planning, acting, observing, reflecting and post-test. The acting consisted of the use of short story in the presentation and articulation game as a modeling to speaking activities,discussion,games, and role plays. The members of the research were the reseacher, the english teacher, and the students of grade VIII. The data were qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative dara were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process during the implementation of the action,interviewing the students,and holding discussions with the english teacher,while the quantitative data were obtained from pre test and post test. The data were in the form of field notes and interview transcripts, and documentation. The finding of the study showed that the use of articulation game combined with the communicative speaking activities was proved to be affective to improve student?s speaking ability. They were fluency,vocabulary, pronounciation and student?s confidence. The findings were supported by the means of the student?s speaking scores which had improved from 39,42 in the pre test to 46,50 in the post test. An interesting problem that is common among students currently attending school, which may also have ever experienced before. In the famous stern teacher, students will usually feel overwhelmed when will start the lesson and vice versa if the student does not go to hear the teacher, then the student meeting or pain will feel happy. Especially in English class, where students are still many who do not love this lesson and especially if the student is given a long text then students are required to be able to work on the problems that exist in the text. By using this method is expected edutaainment students more enthusiastic in teaching and learning in the classroom.
