A common problem that happen in English Language on the learning process is a passive class in which the students are not responsive to the teacher explanation or information. That is because the limition of students vocabularies and courage of students to show out their ideas. The writer is interest to analyze the the teacher and students? interaction on English learning process because an interaction is important thing to support the students on learning process
The purposes this study are to know the teacher and students? interaction on English learning process are happened, the pattern of interaction that happen in the classroom, and the problem faced by the teacher and students in the classroom and the solution of it.
This study uses descriptive qualitative research design. The subject of the study is students of VIII B class of SMP Negeri 1 Semanding. The number of the class is 34 students. And the instrument of the study are observation, questionnaire and interview.
The result of this study shows that the dominant interaction is type 2 of Herlina?s interaction was representative to be used in the classroom on learning process where there was interaction and feedback between the teacher and students. The interactional features used on English learning process between teacher and students is dominant by directing students and giving instruction when the teacher gives the students task. And there is no interactional feature between students to teacher.
