This research analyzed Improving the reported speech in speaking skill by using bamboo dancing method .The problem of the research is how can Bamboo Dancing Method improve reported speech in speaking skill of the students at the first grade of SMK Ma?arif 4-5 Tambakboyo?, how are achievements of students who are taught by using Bamboo Dancing Method?, and what are the students? responses toward the use of Bamboo Dancing Method?
The objectives of the research are to describe the implementation of the bamboo dancing method improve reported speech in speaking skill of students at first grade of SMK Ma?arif 4-5 Tambakboyo, to know how are achievements of students who are taught by using Bamboo Dancing Method, and to describe the students? responses toward the use of Bamboo Dancing Method.
This research is descriptive qualitative research. The methodology of research is classroom action research. The researcher used two cycles. Each cycle comprised of one meeting and each meeting consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The researcher showed that the students involved actively in teaching learning process. They are more encourages and confident to speak English. However, there are strength and weakness of using Bamboo Dancing Method.
The subject of the study are the students of SMK Ma?arif 4-5 Tambakboyo. The writer studies in the first grade. The first grade consist of two classes, and the writer studies only in X Ak class.
The result of this research is that there is an improvement of students speaking skill in reported speech by using Bamboo Dancing Method. It can be seen from the mean score of preliminary study, cycle I and cycle II. The increasing percentage students who pass in preliminary study, cycle 1 to cycle 2 are: 16%; 42%; and 85%. The decreasing percentage students who not pass in preliminary study, cycle 1 to cycle 2 are: 16; 58 %; and 15 %. At the preliminary study the mean score is 50. The higher score is 76, the first cycle the mean score is 52, and the higher score is 84. At the second cycle the mean score is 72, and the higher score is 92.
This indicated that teaching and learning of reported speech by applying Bamboo dancing Method the students? speaking skill.
