Nowadays, many languages exist because of heterogenic condition especially in Indonesia. Many people switch from one language into another language that is well known as code switching. Code switching is used by everybody including celebrities? circle especially Alvin Adam who tend to switch language in the mid of utterances particularly while he interviewed the guests in talk show program. The aims of this study were to find out the types, the dominant type and reasons of code switching used by Alvin Adam.
This study used qualitative method with the main instrument was researcher herself. The data and source of data took from Alvin Adam?s utterances in four episodes in just Alvin talk show ((Beauty of Me, Yes, We Trust You Vin, Choose to Be Happy, Never Say Never). From data analysis, it showed that types of code switching used by Alvin Adam are intra-sentential, inter-sentential, making emblematic and involving a change of pronunciation features and the writer found the dominant type of code switching used by Alvin Adam is intra-sentential.
The researcher found out that the reason of using code switching are; talking about particular topic, being emphatic about something, interjection, repetition used by clarification, intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor, expressing group identity and real lexical need.
