Speaking is one of the four language skills, which is basic function of language as communication instrument. Students who study at the school which use certain language will be a good speaker, different from students who study at the other school which doesn?t use certain language. They will get difficulties in using English to speak each other; it is caused by condition of school environment and media that is used in teaching them. The writer find that although the students study English more than a year they have still low ability in speaking to interact with the teacher and others.
The objective of this study is to describe the implementation of good morning ball game to increase speaking ability and to describe the students? rsponses to the good morning ball game in speaking ability at the seventh grade students of MTs. Muhammadiyah 18 Warulor Paciran. The researcher use good morning ball game as method in teaching learning process. Good morning ball game is game that can make the students interested in joining in teaching learning process.
This research was conducted at MTs Muhammadiyah 18 Warulor Paciran. The number of students is 24 students. To know the student?s speaking achievement by using good morning ball game, the researcher gave them two test in two cycles and analyzed the result. To know the improvement students? speaking ability, the researcher did preliminary study before doing cycle 1. The result of preliminary study is 5 6, result of cycle 1 is 60 and the result of cycle 2 is 71. The students mastery in speaking ability by using good morning ball game is good. It means that the teaching and learning process of mastery in speaking ability by using good morning ball game at Mts Muhammadiyah 18 Warulor Paciran is successful.
The students? difficulty in studying English exactly in speaking were caused by two factors: teacher and students. The factor from the teacher are like; The teacher are less communicating in teaching and monotonous teach. The problem from the students are ; not pay attention to the lesson, lazy to study and have low motivation. Teacher should be able to convice their students to improve their performance in academic achievement so as to make students master English well. The students must pay attention and study harder in learning and teaching process.
