This study is intended to investigate1) What vocabulary learning strategies do the female students use at seventh grade of MtsSyi?ar Islam Maibit in learning English?, 2)What vocabulary learning strategies do the male students use at seventh grade of MTs Syi?ar Islam Maibit in learning English?, 3)To what extend are the different between female and male student?
This study used quantitative method, the part of quantitative is counting this score from questionnaire to know the learning strategy used by students.
The result indicated that 1) 45.45% mostly female students used compensation strategy in learning vocabulary. And the other 18.18% used cognitive and social and the last 9.09% used memory ad metacognitive strategy, 2)54.54% mostly male students used compensation strategy in learning vocabulary, 45.45% used social strategy, and the last 18.18% used metacognitive and memory strategy, 3).There is no significant difference between female and male students, they mostly use the same strategy.
