Guessing verb can be applied in the teaching speaking. This assumption was based on some experts? comments. Guessing verb can be used to develop or reinforce concept, to add diversion to regular activities. The students are easier to receive the lesson by using guessing verb.They can enjoy studying and having fun in studying. They are not bored and they can understand what the object means and what the action means by using guessing verb with picture media that is played by students. The writer chose at SMP Negeri 04 Tuban because the teacher has applied picture media in teaching speaking .
Based on the background above,in this study there are two problems stated as follow:(1) How is teaching of speaking using guessing verb at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 04 Tuban?, and (2) what the problems do the teacher and the students face in speaking using guessing verb?
The purpose of this study are:(1) to describe is the teaching of speaking using guessing verb at SMP Negeri 04 Tuban, and (2) to know the problems the teacher and the students face in speaking using guessing verb.
The design used in this research is a descriptive qualitative because it describes phenomena happening in this class and the result of the data which is taken from the research during the teaching learning activities. The subject of this study is the students at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 04 Tuban. The writer carried out the study by using some techniques such as classroom observation, and interview.
Finally, the writer concluded that guessing games had important role to developed and improved the students? speaking ability in learning English. Beside that,the guessing verb can make the students interested and enjoy the lesson more.
