The background of the study is based on the politeness strategies used by maleficent film. The problem of the study are :1). What are the types of politeness strategies in ?maleficent? film? 2).What are the dominant politeness strategies used in ?maleficent? film?
The purpose of this study was explain the types of politeness strategies in the?Maleficent? film. And to find dominant politeness strategies used in the dialogue in ?Maleficent? film. The research design of this study was descriptive qualitative research. The research instrument of this research was the researcher herself. The writer was collecting data by documentation method. The resarcher was found 31 utterances of bald on record strategies, 9 utterances of positive politeness strategies, 8 utterances of negative politeness strategies, 9 utterances of off record strategies, and 6 acts of say nothing. The most dominant is 31 utterances of bald on record strategies.
