This Study is on the teaching and learning speaking of the descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMA PGRI 3 TUBAN. The writer describes this problem because she wants to know the teaching of speaking of the descriptive text by the teacher and to know the problem faced by the teacher and students in teaching and learning speaking of descriptive text and to know the teacher solution to the problem and to know the students solution to the problems of the tenth grade students of SMA PGRI 3 TUBAN.
In this research, the writer used the descriptive design. It means that the writer described teaching and learning process of the descriptive text by the teacher and the problem faced by the teacher and students in teaching and learning speaking of procedure text. The target subjects of this study are the tenth grade students of SMA PGRI 3 TUBAN. The writer takes one class consists of 20 students and one English teacher as the subject of this Study. The data of this Study are collected by doing an observation, questionnaire, and interview. The observation to find out the process of teaching and learning English, especially speaking descriptive text in spoken cycle. The observation the writer made check list of activities of the teacher and students The Questionnaire is to find out the process of teaching and learning English, especially speaking descriptive text in spoken cycle. The Questionnaire is written in Indonesian. It is given to the students. The interview which is given to the English teacher is intended to get information about the steps that are used by the teacher in teaching speaking of descriptive text.
The result of the study shows, in teaching and learning some the teacher applied: BKOF, MOT, JCOT and ICOT, and the techniques used by the teacher are role play and discussions. The teacher lack of creativity, liveliness, attention to the students, and correcting the student's error. The problems faced by the teacher and the students in teaching and learning of the descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMA PGRI 3 TUBAN, are the students are worried about making mistake, felt shy of their performance because the students lack of vocabularies.
After knowing the result of the study, the writer gave some suggestion for the teacher. At first the teacher should create a warm and nice situation in the classroom, give more attention to the students, correct the student's errors and tolerant to them, stimulate the students to increase their vocabularies. The writer also gave some suggestions for the students. The students should increase learning techniques, such as memorizing the vocabularies, always practice them in daily activity, and should increase their motivation and effort in speaking.
