This research is aimed to find African Feminism Models within nine selected short stories in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi ?The Thing Around Your Neck? Novel as well as to find Types of Women Discrimination experienced by the main character in each selected short story.
The researcher applied descriptive qualitative to conduct the research based on content analysis. Procedure of collecting and analyzing the data in this research are: Preparing the data, Selecting the data, Determining the data, and Reading the the short stories to obtain the data. While in analyzing the data, the researcher employs some steps as follows: Identifying the data, Coding uses in order to analyze the data easier, Classifying the data, Describing the data, Interpreting each case of the data, and Making Conclusion.
From the analyis, the writer found two short stories that represent Walker?s Womanism, three short stories represent Ogunyemi?s Womanism, one short story represents Stiwanism, two short stories represent Motherism, and one short story represent Stiwanism and Nego-Feminism. The most dominant African Feminism Model among nine short stories is Ogunyemi?s Womanism. While for Types of Women Discrimination, the writer found five times of Subordination, seven times of Stereotype, four times of Marginalization, four times of Violence, and one time Double Burden that experienced by main character in different short stories. The dominant type of women discrimination that experienced by main character in nine selected short stories is Stereotype.
