A procedural text is a text ewhich gives instructions on how to do sopmething. In this research, the researcher use authentic material towards students? ability in compreheding procedure text on the achievement in reading. The writer using authentic material to makes students have a motivation to learn English especially in reading process.
The design used in this research is a true experimental research whit pre test-post test type control group design. There are two groups to be researched with 22 students of the experimental class and 22 students of the control class. The date are taken from the pre test before giving the trearment and the post test after giving the treatment to know the effectiveness of using authentic material towards students? ability in compreheding procedure text and also questionnaires to know the students? responses through the learning process of the technique.
Based on the research result, the researcher concludes that using authentic material towards students? ability in compreheding of procedure text is effective because the velue of t-count (2.865) is higher than the value of t-table (2.018) and they shows the good response though teaching and learning process as it is show in the observation during the Teaching learning process and also in their questionnaires.
from the research, it was also found some weakness in using authentic m,aterial. The limited time was the main obstacle in this research. Sometimes comes from anorther which was unexpected happen in the lesson plan.
