Pronunciation is one of language elements.The problem highlighted in this research is the low pronunciationof English vowels ability at the eight grade of SMPN 2 Rengel that is caused by (1) How is homophone game implemented to improve the students?pronunciation of English vowels? (2) How is the improvement of the students? pronunciation of English vowels through homophone game;(3) responses toward the use of homophone game to improve the pronunciation of English vowels?. The theoretical review includes the games in language and games for the students? at the eighth grade of SMPN 2 rengel.
The procedure of the research consists of two cycles. And this research conclude that identifying the problem, planning, action, obsrvation,and reflection. In this research, the researcher acts as the teacher who conducts the action research in the classroom and she is helped by the classroom teacher and collaborator. In collecting the data, the researcher uses observational technique supported with tests. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses the test, compares the result of the students' pre-test and post-test to answer the research questions and questionnaire to know the responses toward the use of homophone game.
To answer the research question, the researchertook an experiment to practice Homophone Game in teaching English pronunciation. The writer made one group pre-test and post-test experiment. The number of sample was 29. The writer uses t-test as the instrument to accumulate the data of the ability of students? pronunciation before and after being taught by using Homophone Game.
The result of the experiment showed the calculating of t-test, with the level of significant 5%, the degree of freedom (DF) 29, and t-value 7591. the mean 68,965 or categorized as ?good?, it was higher than mean 49,310 categorized as ?sufficient?. Therefore, the hypothesis of the research state that there was significant difference before and after being taught pronounciation of English vowels by using Homophone Game.
Therefore, the writer suggeststhat the use of homophone game very good when applied to learning pronunciation. There, the ability of students? pronunciation more than better before using homophone game.
