In this research, it?s conducted a research on the characterization of the main characters reflected in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer?s Stone novel by J.K Rowling, especially Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The method in this research is qualitative by using library research, where all the data were collected from any literary works related to the research.
The purposes of this research are divided into two parts. The first is to analyze the characterization of the main characters reflected in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer?s Stone novel. Then, the second is to analyze the implication of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer?s Stone novel toward education.
The results of this research can be showed that the characters of Harry Potter in the novel are patient, sensitive, unadorned, famous, smart, strong-willed, friendly, and brave. Then, it can be showed that the characters of Ron Weasley in the novel are friendly, coward, untalented, talkative, arrogant, brave, strong-willed, and lazy. The dominant characterization of Harry Potter is unadorned, because there are 10 dialogues about unadorned in the novel. Then, the dominant characterization of Ron Weasley is friendly, because there are 7 dialogues about friendly in the novel.
There are some implications of this novel toward education, such as: parents should understand the desire and the ability of their children, the students should have a tolerance to each other, the students should have a self confidence and diligence to become the real winner. It is hoped that the findings of the research about the characterization of the main characters of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer?s Stone novel could be useful for the next researcher who wants to analyse the similar topic.
