This research is conducted to analyze the effectiveness of Students Team Achievement Division in speaking skill at 2016 grade of English study program. It is conducted to find out how is the effectiveness of Students Team Achievement Division and how Students Team Achievement Division can increase students? speaking skill.
In conducting this research, the researcher used descriptive quantitative as the design of the research. Then, the subject of this research is the fourth semester students of English study program. As the instruments of the research, the researcher took the data from pre test and post test, questionnaire and interview.
As the quantitative method, the writer analyzed the data by using t-test. The result showed that there was significant difference on the students? speaking achievement taught with STAD technique. The students? mean of pre-test score of experiment class was 61.98%. Then in post-test, the mean score of experiment class was 80.68%. This result also significance with Questionnaire and interview to know the response of students. In other words, Students Team Achievement Division technique is effective in teaching speaking skill for the fourth semester of English study program. Students Team Achievement Division technique also proven to increase students? speaking skill.
