This study uses songs through retelling activity method in increasing speaking ability at the eleventh grade students of MA Manbail Futuh Jenu.
In this Research, the researcher uses the classroom action research. It means the researcher is interested in finding out the use of songs in increasing speaking through retelling activity at eleventh grade students. It tends to build the students? interest and motivation to speak up by giving songs as the media by the researcher. To cope with those problem, the researcher employed songs technique. This study was designed to increase students? speaking ability of the eleventh grade students at MA Manbail Futuh Jenu.
The target subject of this study are the eleventh grade students of MA Manbail Futuh Jenu. The data of this study are collected by doing an observation test, and distributing the questionnaire. The questionnaire was written in Indonesia. Its given only for the students.
In addition, the finding of the study indicates that the songs technique is successful in increasing the students? speaking ability. The enhancement of the students? speaking ability could be seen from the number of students whose score achieved score 70 are 24 students (60%) of 40 students in preliminary, in the second whose score achieved score 70 are 25 students (63%), while their final speaking score are 32 students (80%) of 40 students who achieved KKM scoreis 70. The increasing could be seen from the number of students who were catagorized percentage from the first and second test progress is 17%.
It is found that the researcher gave songs to the students to reach their common goal. She evaluated the students? ability by their presentation with retelling in front of class. The result of the questionnaire is most of students more anthusiastic and enjoy to follow speaking activity. They felt interesting in learning English.
