Pragmatics is the study of the relationship between language and context that are basic to an account of language understanding (Levinson. 1983). The single most obvious way in which the relationship between. The objective of this research is to identify the types of deixis, to analyze the usage of deixis and to find out the dominant deixis in the novel.
The method used in this study is a qualitative method using qualitative descriptive data and using the theory of Purwo (1983) and Putrayasa (2014). In analysing data the theory of Levinson is used. He categorized deixis into five types, those are person deixis, place deixis, time deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis.
. The Dominant of deixis found in ?Sense and Sensibility? novel by Jane Austen is First person category (2.021) of person deixis especially first person deixis.
The result shows that there are five types of deixis in the novel Sense and Sensibility , those are people deixis, place deixis, time deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis. It is expected that this research will help the students and the other readers in learning the pragmatic aspects, especially about deixis.
