This study is intended to identify, describe, and classify the errors made by the students in speaking descriptive text. The purpose of the study are to identify, describe and classify the types of error and also to identify the kinds of grammatical error made by students in speaking descriptive text at the seventh grades of SMPN 6 TUBAN.
The study uses a descriptive design. The subject of the study is students of the seventh grades in SMPN 6 TUBAN. The researcher chooses F class, it consists of 25 students. The technique of collecting data is test.
The result of the study has shown that the types of errors occurred in the students speaking of descriptive text are errors in omission (18.88%), errors in addition (5.6%), errors in misformation (72.02%), and errors in misordering (3.5%). The dominant kind of errors which reaches the highest in frequency is misformation (72.02%).
