TINGKAT PROFESIONALITAS GURU DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BIDANG STUDI EKONOMI DI SMAN 1 SOOKO MOJOKERTO
Nowadays we are facing a rapid competition in education; therefore, all parties in education need to equate their mindset and attitude to promote the improvement of education quality. For that reason, the writer curious to know about the teacher?s professionalism level refers to Permendiknas 2007 that have been defined. This study is aim at observing the teacher?s professionalism level in the classroom activity of Economy subject starting from plan, implementation, and evaluation.
The writer builds the research problem that is related about two things. First, about application of the teacher?s professionalism level in three steps, which are: planning, implementing and evaluation. Second, some supporting factors and inhibiting factors that could influence the teacher?s professionalism level. From the result that has been found through observation and documentation, it can be stated that two Economics teachers at SMAN 1 Sooko were not professional enough yet. It is because, the two teachers could not reach the professional level from four competences that have been decided by the Government. The four competences were: the teachers? less harmonious relationship with the people in their society, the teachers? relationship with the other teacher which was not too good, the teachers? time management in the classroom activity which was not completely finished on set, and the usage of teaching methods which tend to make the students feel bored.
In the research discussion it was found that the Economics teachers not always guided by the Lesson Plan in the teaching activity. Therefore, sometimes the time allotment in the teaching and learning process was different from the time allotment set in the Lesson Plan. Also, the variation of classroom activity was still considered less interesting for the students. However, on the other hand there was a supporting factor that could help the teacher in improving their professionalism level which is financial incentive given by the government. Because of the financial incentive, the teacher could be totally focus on educating and teaching the students without thinking another need. While the inhibiting factors of the teacher to be professional are the teachers?relationship in their society, the teachers? relationship with fellow teacher, and the variation of teaching method in the classroom. It is suggested for the teachers to improve their professionalism by balancing their relationship also with the people in the society and with the fellow teachers. Therefore, the teachers could do their profession well without any obstacle. Thus, the teaching and learning activity in the classroom could help the students to be a better learner.
