The statement of the problem is to obtain the problem ? what are the students communication strategies in SMK Taruna Jaya Prawira Tuban?? And ? why do the students use communication strategies in SMK Taruna Jaya Prawira Tuban ??.
This study used descriptive qualitatif method. The reseacher takes 28 students of the tenth grades Welding Engineering (LAS) 1 in SMK Taruna Jaya Prawira Tuban as subject of the study. the reseacher analyzed students communications strategies based on Anwar classification.
The result indicated that all of the students from all strategies of proficiency used all learning strategies, message abandonment, approximation, prefabricated patterns, , nonlinguistics signals, appeal for help, time gaining and the strategy of read the book by makaing a summary. From all strategies of proficiency both all students, time gaining strategies used by students. Furthermore, it could be concluded that the students of tenth grades LAS 1 in SMK Taruna Jaya Prawira Tuban were so nervous and worried in a retelling story. So, to overcome that, they used many Communication Strategies to help them in retelling story. In addition, the students have no many vocabularies in retelling story.
Therefore, it can be suggested that learner should learn comunication strategies. It?s has many advantage such as the students can use communication strategies to overcome the problem of communication.
